Imagine a tug-of-war between two teams. On one side are the atherogenic particles marked by ApoB, pulling towards arterial damage; on the other are the protective HDL particles marked by ApoA1, pulling towards arterial clean-up. A lower ratio means the protective team is winning, fewer harmful particles relative to the clean-up crew.
